Breakfast is the Most Important Meal of the Day
Oh really? Says who? The people who are in the breakfast business perhaps? Breakfast foods including oats, muesli, cornflakes and other cereals, eggs, yogurt, and ready-to-eat breakfast foods is a $400 billion* market relying on breakfast “being essential”, not even including fast food chains and hotels.
In reality however, the claim “Breakfast is the Most Important Meal of the Day” is just a marketing slogan from after World War II.
Breakfast products are very high in carbs (including sugars) giving an immediate blood sugar spike followed 1-2 hours later by a blood sugar crash which leads to people feeling hungry before lunch.
The word breakfast comes from breaking your fast since the last meal the previous day, historically around 12 hours earlier. By skipping breakfast, you too can enjoy the benefits of giving your body a proper break.
If you must, try a breakfast of eggs and bacon to avoid the blood sugar spike and crash.
